The Eastern Kentucky Association of REALTORS® is an organization of REALTORS® and REALTOR® Associates working cooperatively and harmoniously.  It was founded in 1979 to become the principle spokesman for professionals, a force for education and a sponsor of beneficial laws for licensees and property owners throughout Eastern Kentucky.  The Association established opportunity in communications by providing a central forum for the exchange of ideas and information and promotes a strong, conscientious and unified voice in local and state affairs.

About US

Eastern Kentucky
Association of REALTORS®

The first office of the Association was a bit mobile, to say the least.  In an effort to save on cost, whoever had been elected as the Board President that year was where the Board Office was.  This "traveling" office finally stopped moving about 1998 when a suitable office space was located in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on KY Rt. 321.  Eventually, the Board also went on to hire an Executive Officer to work part-time to maintain records and also present the accessibility and convenience of the centrally-located Board Office.  It was some time after these changes, that our Board continued to reflect its progress as the name of the Association changed from the Big Sandy Board of REALTORS® to the Eastern Kentucky Association of REALTORS® in 2001, a new Association Executive was hired in 2002 and the Board Office relocated to a more central point in Ivel, Kentucky in 2004.

Our Association works closely with the state licensing agency, the Kentucky Real Estate Commission and also, the Kentucky Association of REALTORS®, in order to promote effective licensing statutes and regulate real estate activity in this area.  The Eastern Kentucky Association of REALTORS® publishes both a monthly Homes Magazine and a member-based newsletter.  Our Homes Magazine has proven itself to be a resourceful marketing tool to our REALTOR® members, while the newsletter continues to keep members informed on current events and changes that occur within not only our Association, but the real estate industry, as well.

The leadership of the Eastern Kentucky Association of REALTORS® meets at least once a month and is headed by our Board of Directors, more specifically, elected officers and past-presidents.  Each and every member of the Association is strongly encouraged to attend our Board of Directors' and General Membership meetings, in order to keep themselves informed of Association happenings.  As an Association, we strive to produce valuable speakers and meeting sponsors at our General Membership meetings, in order to gain member participation and interest.

The educational aspect of the Eastern Kentucky Association of REALTORS® is fulfilled, in part, at no cost to our REALTOR® members.  We offer at least one class that can be accredited for three hours of continuing education in addition to our Ethics and Orientation classes.  Our educational courses are primarily conducted in our centrally-located Board Office and are available in both morning and evening sessions to best accommodate our members' busy schedules.

So, as you may be beginning to see, our Association is very involved within its membership and also in the outlying communities we span.  The Eastern Kentucky Association of REALTORS® makes numerous attempts to work for the betterment of the civic and economic styles seen in our area.  Become a part of the Association and let your voice join ours, as we work to strengthen the real estate industry in Eastern Kentucky.
